Airbnb is trying to clean up a mess after clear instances of discrimination
Eric Holder is once again fighting for civil rights. Instead of doing this in a government position though, he is taking the battle to Silicon Valley.
Airbnb announced that the former U.S. Attorney General is joining the site as part of its anti-discrimination team. Holder will help the site with creating its official policy for dealing with racism, sexism, and homophobia.
The move follows backlash for Airbnb regarding how Airbnb hosts discriminate against some people, including African-Americans. Some Airbnb customers have reported that their reservations were cancelled once hosts learned they were not white or heterosexual.
Also two rival websites have recently appeared to cater to black travelers. Noirbnb and Noirebnb, both black-owned, have been launched by separate founders.
