Independent journalist Mary C. Curtis will join CQ Roll Call as politics editor.
Curtis currently contributes to NBC, The Washington Post, The Root, NPR, the Women’s Media Center, MSNBC, and talks politics on WCCB-TV in Charlotte. She was national correspondent for AOL’s Politics Daily and covered both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. A 2006 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, Curtis was also features editor at The Charlotte Observer and has written for AllDigitocracy.
Her appointment is part of a hiring spree by newly minted editor-in-chief Melinda Henneberger, who worked with Curtis both at AOL and as editor of The Washington Post’s She The People blog, which was discontinued in 2014. In total, Henneberger — who took the helm at CQ Roll Call in October — has hired two new editors and three staff writers, FishBowlDC reported today.
