Rebecca Landsberry was named interim executive director of the Native American Journalists Association on Friday.
Landsberry replaces Pamala Silas, a member of the Oneida/Menominee tribes, who was hired last month as the new executive director of the National American Indian Housing Council. She had served as NAJA’s executive director since 2013.
Landsberry is a graduate of the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma and is a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma. According to a press release, she will serve as NAJA’s interim director at least through the association’s annual conference, which takes place July 9-12 in Washington, D.C.
