Been missing Gwen Ifill on PBS NewsHour?
No worries, the co-host and managing editor will be back on her evening news show in a few weeks, around Memorial Day to be exact, the network announced. She will also resume her duties moderating Washington Week.
Early last month, Ifill told viewers on-air that she would be taking time off from her duties.
“Gwen is taking a brief leave to address some ongoing health issues,” Nick Massella, director of audience engagement and communications for the NewsHour, recently told The Providence Journal. “Her doctors are encouraged with her progress, and she hopes to be back in the saddle as soon as possible,” he added.
While Ifill’s health issues have yet to be revealed to the public, PBS assures that she is “doing well.”
During her short break, NewsHour Weekend anchor Hari Sreenivasan has filled in for Ifill, co-anchoring with Judy Woodruff, the Associated Press reported.
