Gregory Lee, Jr., currently executive sports editor at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, is now headed to Atlanta, where he will oversee content at NBA.com for Turner Sports.
As editorial director of NBA.com, Lee will focus his expertise in sports journalism in the digital spaces; at the Sun-Sentinel he is responsible for both print and digital content.
How’d he get that job? “The National Association of Black Journalists network is a powerful one,” said Lee, immediate past president of the association. “The sports task force chair, Marc Spears, reached out to his connections at NBA.com. He mentioned me as a possible candidate for the position. Marc also reached out to me about the position. So there was mutual interest.”
Lee’s departure from the Sun-Sentinel means the number of black sports editors at newspaper companies declines to three.
